Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Traumatic Brain Injury is one of the most common injuries facing Veterans returning from
Iraq and Afghanistan.  Our warrior heroes who have served in OIF and OEF have endured
more blast (IED, RPG, VBIED, Mortars, etc) attacks than those who have served in any
other war.  Experts have estimated that as high as one-third of all Iraq and Afghanistan
Veterans have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury.  That's more than 660,000 people!!

In a normal "civilian" setting TBI would be diagnosed within hours of an injury.  Our guys
and gals are often going months or years before being properly diagnosed.

However, getting a proper
TBI diagnosis is extremely important for many reasons - both for
short term treatment and for long term screening of illnesses that Traumatic Brain Injury
can cause or worsen later in life.

If you are a Veteran of OIF or OEF, or the loved one of a Veteran, please take time to read
through this TBI section and identify whether or not you may need to be screened for
Traumatic Brain Injury!
