Learning to survive and thrive in life when your family is struggling with PTSD (Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder) can be difficult.  Many things other families take for granted -
going out to eat in a crowded restaurant, taking vacation in unfamiliar places, watching
fireworks, having dinner parties, etc. - now have to be adapted.  Some of these changes
will be made forever, some will only be made until your Veteran gets a better handle on
living with PTSD.

All of the pages below give you real-world ideas for helping your family successfully
navigate in your "new" world.  One note of caution - please don't think that these coping
skills will help you "fix" your Veteran.  They are only going to help you and your family cope
a little bit better.  The only way your Veteran will improve is by seeking counseling, finding
medications that work (if needed), and making the decision on his/her own to improve and
learn to live successfully with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
